    One colour, screen printed straight onto the canvas. The weave stays visible through the ink, so the drawing sits in the cloth rather than on top of it.

Kapas means cotton.

Kapas is the word for raw cotton — the boll on the plant, before it becomes thread or cloth or anything else. It seemed right for a shop that sells one thing, made of one material.

We're on the water in Tasmania, where the wind comes off the Southern Ocean and everything gets carried somewhere. A bag that holds books, wet swimmers, half a market and a loaf of bread seemed like the honest place to start.
